Ballasts, Transformers | Quartz Sleeve/Tube

Sometimes Quartz Sleeves will fit different models, however unlike most UV bulbs/lamps, quartz sleeves are often proprietary, meaning that the quartz sleeve is designed specifically for a certain unit.
HOWEVER, if the dimensions (diameter, length, and unit wattage) are the same, you should be able to use a quartz sleeve designed for one unit for another, especially since certain brands (such as Aqua & Savio) purchase their quartz Sleeves from the same manufacturer.

It is noteworthy that most T5 closed end Quartz Sleeves can work if slightly shorter or even slightly longer than the original UV Quart Sleeve.
For example if your original quartz sleeve is 21 inches, but the closest fit is a 19.5 inch quartz sleeve and your UVC T5 Lamp/Bulb is 18.5 inches; This WILL work in 95% of applications from Carl's professional experience in pond/aquarium maintenance

We apologize for the more limited section of Quartz Sleeves (as compared to our vast UVC Replacement Bulb Selection), however we cannot obtain most Quartz sleeves/tubes at a price that is worth selling, as the price charged by manufacturers (such as LifeGuard) often makes the replacement of the entire UV unit a better value

As for ballasts/transformers; these are generally an easier cross fit.
It does not matter whether your original ballast is electronic or magnetic (although magnetic usually last much longer), they are interchangeable as long as they fit into the same “wattage envelope”. The only difficulty one may encounter with the change out of a ballast is that you may need to be reasonable handy with wiring, if not I recommend you not purchase a ballast and I recommend purchasing a new UV Sterilizer.

How UV Sterilization Works

Please note that many Ballasts (& quartz sleeves) are not available,
Either due to the proprietary nature and/or a cost that makes the sale of these items difficult if not impossible.
With many over priced UV Sterilizers/Clarifiers it may be simply less expensive when you factor in the cost of the UV Lamp, Ballast and/or quartz Tube to replace the UV Sterilizer with a new model; this is especially true with many UV Sterilizers of very questionable value.

For those who are “handy” (of good DIY talents), you might be able to repair minor chips in the Quartz Sleeve with silicone and re-wire a ballast/transformer with one the is purchased from a local electrical supply store or online seller of these.
An example would be this website (not affiliated in any way with this website, so we cannot vouch for this company) that is selling a plain vanilla 9 Watt G23 Lamp Ballast:
4-9 Watt, 120 Volt One Lamp CFL or T5 Magnetic Ballast
